Egypt has experienced an escalation in fresh grape exports to Finland, according to EastFruit. By the end of 2024, Egypt delivered 3.8 thousand tons of grapes to Finnish markets, valued at over $14 million. This volume is nearly threefold compared to 2023, marking a new point in Egypt- Finland trade relations.
Grapes are among Egypt's leading fruit and berry exports, following oranges and frozen strawberries in export value. In 2024, Egyptian grapes reached 56 countries, with Finland representing 2.5% of total exports.
South Africa remains Finland's main grape supplier and ranks among the top three global grape exporters. South African and Indian shipments mainly occur in the year's first half. Conversely, Egypt's export season to Finland typically runs from May to December, placing Egyptian grapes in direct competition with those from Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.
By the end of 2024, Egypt's increase in grape exports allowed it to surpass Spain, achieving second place among Finland's grape import sources, with a 27.1% market share.
In addition to Finland, Egypt's grape exports are also growing in other Scandinavian countries, such as Norway, Denmark, and Ireland. However, shipments to Sweden remain limited.
