Orlando Pirates have pulled off a major transfer deal as they welcomed one of their ‘prodigal sons’ from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kermit Erasmus has officially completed a sensational return to the Sea Robbers after weeks of speculation around his future.

The 32-year-old looked set to stay at Sundowns after reports emerged that the Tshwane giants were not willing to allow him to join either Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs.

However, according to Pirates, Erasmus was ‘cleared’ by Sundowns hence they were able to complete his signing.

In a statement released on Friday, Pirates confirmed that Erasmus will be their player until 2024 after penning a two-year deal.

ORLANDO PIRATES SIGN KERMIT ERASMUS FROM SUNDOWNS

“Orlando Pirates is happy to announce the signing of Kermit Erasmus on a two-year deal,” reads the statement.

“The experienced forward joins the Buccaneers having recently been cleared by his former employer and becomes the sixth senior signing of the season.”

Erasmus knows and understands Pirates very well having played for them between 2013 and 2016.

The speedy attacker then joined French outfit Stade Rennais in 2016 but prior to that, he had scored 21 goals and provided 14 assists in 80 matches for Pirates.
