Motorcyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run crash on I-5 overpass

EVERETT, Wash. - A motorcyclist was seriously injured after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday on an Interstate 5 overpass in Everett, police said.

Officers and medics responded to the scene, the 112th Street SE overpass that crosses I-5, after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, an adult male, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His wrecked cycle was found smashed and twisted at the scene, with pieces of it spread across the roadway.

The vehicle that struck the motorcyclist fled the scene before police arrived, and officers are now trying to find the driver of that vehicle.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a gray Dodge Stratus that took off to the south on 19th Avenue SE. It is believed to h ave extensive front end damage.

Traffic at the scene was snarled and backed-up immediately after the crash but has since cleared out somewhat, police said.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation.
