Cape Town - Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic says he senses a determination in his men to restore pride within the club.
Having inherited a team which failed to make the top eight last season, the early signs under Sredojevic have been positive with Bucs unbeaten after four matches (two wins and two draws), and sitting joint top of the standings.
While the Serbian has brought fresh energy and impetus to the team, he says it's ultimately down to the attitude of his players, and so far he has been pleased with what he has seen.
"Nothing would happen if the players weren't responding, fully aware of what happened last season," Sredojevic told the Star.
"They want to redeem themselves. There is an element of pride which is what is driving us. Our main target, before (talking about any) results, is to restore the pride in the badge that we are carrying.
"A badge that has 80 years and millions of dreams inside it."
The Sea Robbers face a test of their credentials when they take on high-flying Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.
Sredojevic says it's important that his players find the right blend of confidence and respect against Benni McCarthy's side.
"He (McCarthy) is the future of coaching in this country. I have great respect for him. He has brought a great set up. Last season the team did very well.
"When the downslide was supposed to come, he took them to the final of the MTN8. With that in mind, we need to give them respect when they have the ball and show elements of arrogance when we have the ball."
The match at the FNB Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
